I started school at St. Mary's School in 1942. When the dentist came to inspect our teeth we went to the Village Hall and were seen in the small room by the kitchen. Having a filling was not a pleasant experience as the drill was worked by the dentist's foot. I also went to country dancing lessons which took place in the Village Hall. I think the teacher was Miss Davies who lived in Brooke Avenue. (contributed by Mrs Bergstrand)
